Staying positive
Staying positive is incredible difficult for every person not to mention when you have a mental health issue. Then once an illness is chucked in it can get unbearable. I have tried counselling which is good but didn't work well for me when I was younger. Now I am going to counselling sessions, with a group of women, to help learn ways in which to psychologically deal with our pelvic pain.
Despite this, I also take anti depressant and anti anxiety medication everyday. But a thing I have massively noticed help me is simply talking about it. I am extremely open about it but I never used to be, I was always worried that they wouldn't believe me because its a hidden pain. Or that they thought I was just moaning and being dramatic. However, I have come to terms with it now. Its something I'm going to have to live with and I may as well open up about it. I talk to my family about it especially my mum. I say how its mentally making me feel, just talking is great to get advice or to simply get it all out of your system. When I held it in I got in a very dark place. Still now I worry that I may get back in that dark place because it is so lonely but then I remember how blessed I am. There are so many amazing websites and number that you contact if you feel like you can't talk to anyone. Don't hesitate to reach out because once the first step has been made, the rest gets so much easier. Don't get me wrong on some days it can still be really hard but its key to keep your mind away from it. This does not mean shutting it out but simply reassuring yourself that you are amazing and you can get through it.
A key tip for anyone struggling is to make sure you are physically taking care of yourself. Make sure you are eating properly, drinking enough water, getting enough sleep, yes its tricky to maintain all these things but they are important as they do affect your mental state. Another thing I recommend is ensuring you give yourself time to unwind, whether its meditating, having a bath, laying in front of the tv, it should be anything that you know will help you relax. Just listening to your body is so key. Especially with the endo pain or any other chronic illness, I have to listen to my body when its got too much to therefore avoid a flare up. Pacing is hard but its a learning process which I know will help me in so many ways.
These are methods I use to stay positive on a daily basis to ensure I don't fall into the dark place again but also to ensure I take care of my body.
I hope this helps, if people have other suggestions don't hesitate to leave a message.
