Ways to manage pain
I am currently going to a six week physiotherapy session run by the NHS. It is a group of us which can socialise and talk about our ways to manage pain whilst doing physio.
Basically, because my body has been under a lot of pressure, certain muscles have not been working as hard. Its caused other muscles to over work which therefore, increases or can even cause my pain. So the physiotherapy sessions will help get my muscles to be working in-sync again which should therefore improve my pain.
There are also other ways to manage pain at home, such as;
- A hot bath
- A hot water bottle
- An ice pack on your back (for 20 minutes every 3-4 hours for it to be effective)
- Relaxation exercises (there are loads on YouTube)
- Medication
- A tens machine
- Rest
- Massage
I would use these techniques as soon as you get a slight bit of pain to help avoid a nasty flare that could potentially last for a few days. I am going to do a different blog post on medication, as its going to be a lengthy one!
