What is endometriosis?

I wanted to create a place for people who have just been diagnosed with endometriosis, but also for those that have it. A place with information and honesty.

The definition of endometriosis is:

a condition resulting from the appearance of endometrial tissue outside the uterus and causing pelvic pain, especially associated with menstruation. Which basically means the tissue that grows in our uterus also grows on the outside or on other organs in the body. This therefore causes pain.

Some people however won't have any pain for years and then something can trigger it like certain foods. On the other hand people can be in excruciating pain and suffer badly. Sadly, I was and still is one of those people. The thing with endometriosis is that the amount of endometriosis does not correlate with the amount of pain you suffer. Other may have a large amount of it growing but not suffer from much pain at all.

It is tricky to diagnose. It can take on average, 7 years for a woman to discover she has it. They only way to fully determine if its growing or not is to have a laparoscopy.
